Heroes

Heroes (JP: 勇者), as the name says, are people that enter Badman's dungeon to capture him. The objective of the franchise is to kill all invading heroes while Badman gains enough power to complete his conquest, using monsters.
In What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? and related, heroes will invade the dungeon to try and drag Badman and Badmella out before they gain enough power to take over the kingdom. They are sworn to the King and Princess, but others, especially Extra Heroes like Arthur, will have other motivations, such as doing recon or grinding experience. Heroes employ numerous tactics to try and break through the horde, even to the extent of Hero Rushes, to bring the big bad down. They each have their own occupations, sets of skills, and movement patterns, which must be taken into consideration when making the perfect stage to kill them. They aren't above looting dungeons, either: They will raid Treasure Chests, and, in No Heroes Allowed!, even steal the eggs of Dragons and Lizardmen.
In Yūsha no Kiroku Ver.(Ke)

In Yūsha no Kiroku Ver.(Ke), heroes will enter the dungeon en masse (a la the Hero Rush format) after it has been dug out by the God of Destruction. So many, in fact, that there is only time for the deity to dig out a straight tunnel as long as possible. Once they invade, they will attack monsters relentlessly until they perish, not stopping to heal or use skills.
In Yu-Nama: The Puzzle and related, Badman pulls a lever that causes an endless Hero Rush to occur. The God of Destruction must fend off the heroes within a limited time, achieved by rapidly spawning monsters in return, delaying them. Unlike previous games, heroes do not leave Corpses upon being defeated; thus, the Skeleman and Mandrake families are removed. Additionally, the hero's level is more literal than before, being a literal showing of the level number.
In No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either! and Yūsha no Kuse ni Konamaiki da DASH!, the heroes are attacked by Badman's forces instead, and this time, can be subjugated into workers in the Mine, digging up monsters and items to bolster the horde further. Rare and Super Rare heroes are also introduced, playing a part in evolving monsters to stronger, rarer, forms, which come with special abilities. The hero's level is returned to being a strength signifier after its changes in Yu-Nama: The Puzzle. Additionally, Skelemen are reintroduced, but not through Corpses, instead being found in the Mine, and having a new evolution system.
In No Heroes Allowed! VR
In No Heroes Allowed! VR, heroes function differently, spawning from bases, usually in the form of castles and villages. Occupations were significantly reduced, now only consisting of Swordsmen, Warriors, Magicians, and Clerics; likewise, there are far less skills.
Heroes will target the tower housing Badman's Lair, attempting to lay siege to it before Badman conquers the region. Should the siege succeed, a hero will invade Badman's Lair and imprison him, ending the Conquest. Heroes will operate during the day and sleep at night, leaving them vulnerable to attack by monsters. As days pass, heroes gradually become stronger, further threatening Badman's prospects.
Heroes do not leave Corpses around when defeated, removing the Skeleman and Mandrake families from the game.
Two new hero types are introduced:
- Cheater Heroes will appear when too much time has passed in place of getting a game over. While they can be beaten, they will inevitably overwhelm Badman's army. It also repurposes old heroes like AAA, AAB, and ABC, implying that they also cheated to become strong.
- Rare Heroes are golden heroes that drop Dragon Orbs when defeated; only one can appear per stage. They are often named after various game development terms, such as Polygon.
Occupations
Heroes of different occupations (JP: 職業) appear to take the Overlord.
