Not to be confused with Badman's Lair, a location in later titles.

Overlord Castle in its prime.

Overlord Castle, internally referred to as "Maou Island", is Badman's lair in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2 and No Heroes Allowed!, acting as his base of operations, featuring Badman's Chamber. It is superseded by Badman's Lair in No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either!.

Story

Overlord Castle begins under the ocean in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2, gradually rising up as Badman conquers Van Gehrig, Marquis de Sert, Gruesomewhere, Ashpool, and Industria. It's described as gaining power during this time, presumably powering Badman up.

Overlord Castle being bombed by the heroes.

After Bruto is defeated in Industria, he declares that Badman's victory will not last forever. As Badman throws out the King and laughs around the subjugated land, planes with a "Congratulations" flag fly over him, bombing Overlord Castle. Taking over before Badman can even decorate the interior, they plant a flag in the rubble to show their victory. Stunned into silence, Badman has to retake his territory in three big stages; the Castle Gate, Castle Garden, and finally, the castle itself, fighting against various revived heroes, including Heroman and AAA, the latter of whom brought new allies AAB and ABC. After a valiant struggle, he retakes the castle.

Between the events of What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2 and No Heroes Allowed!, Overlord Castle is restored from the rubble left from his battle against the heroes.

Overlord Castle as seen in No Heroes Allowed!

Overlord Castle is seen in No Heroes Allowed!, where Badman finds switch accompanied by a note from the first Overlord, written in ancient Underworldese. It states that the switch will update the game and should thus never be pushed. Out of curiosity and a desire to rebel, Badman pushes the switch. After an ominous feeling drifts from the Underworld, the game zooms itself out, revealing that Badman was actually ruling a very small continent after all, revealing two towers. He then sets out to conquer them, beginning the events of the game. It acts as his base of operations thereafter, where the player can utilise the Badman's Chamber feature.
