Etymology
Ryu-You is a transcription of a common mispronunciation of Ryu's name, a character from the Street Fighter series. His Almanac entry also contains references to Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Ryu's Shotokan martial arts style, and his special moves, Shoryuken (昇龍拳 Rising Dragon Fist) and Tatsumaki Senpukyaku (竜巻旋風脚, Tornado Whirlwind Leg).
In the Japanese version, the name is リウ Riu, which is a misspelling of リュウ Ryū, specifically losing the vowel emphasis and thus getting across the same mispronunciation westerners may make.
