They say he is faster than a speeding locomotive, more powerful than a building, and able to leap tall bullets in a single bound. It's a good thing he's a good guy.

Strategy

What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!?

Heroman is a very fast, very damaging hero, and has well-rounded defences. Worse still, he frequently uses War Cry to boost his attack further, allowing him to cut through Badman's army like a hot knife. While his ATK looks lower than Shota's in Stage 7, his attack speed is far quicker, making his damage output far higher than it looks numerically. His access to blue Volcano also heavily punishes those who dig large rooms in an attempt to attack him from multiple sides.

However, Heroman is far from invincible: he uses his magic very regularly, regardless of the monsters in front of him. Thus, making him burn through his MP quickly by swarming him with members of the Moss family is a valid goal. As they die, nutrients is distributed, allowing the player to replenish them about as fast as Heroman can kill them, costing merely the dungeon's walls at the final stage: a more than fair outcome. Because he uses War Cry so frequently, he can also burn through his MP naturally this way, so long paths are effective.

Once Heroman's MP has depleted to a reasonable level, Lizard Masters can sustain a few hits before striking back for high damage. Killer Omnoms and Succubi are also fine choices; Firm-On can be particularly helpful in slowing him down, exposing his iffy defences. In a Dragon-centric strategy, a killed Shin Dragon can result in an entire room full of Dragon-applicable mana soil, which can instantly finish Heroman off. In this case, letting Badman be taken away and killing Heroman during the animation can be an easy "cheese" strategy. Finally, a horde of over 200 Slimemando Mosses in a tight space — known as Moss Hell — can also kill Heroman instantly.

Should Badman's army be poorly upgraded, using a Treasure Chest to halve Heroman's HP, while a gamble, can bring him down to size.

Etymology

Heroman can be seen as a reference to "generic" superhero names used by comic book manufacturers like Marvel and DC, eg. Superman, Aquaman, etc. His Almanac entry in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2 is a jumbled version of the famous "Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings at a single bound!" quote from "The Adventures of Superman", released in 1951.

Heroman's Japanese name, "ユーテー", comes from ゆう帝, the pen name for Yuji Horri, the writer of Famicom Shinken and creator of the Dragon Quest series.

Trivia

  • In the Japanese version, Badman calls Heroman a cockroach; specifically, a German cockroach (キンピカのゴキブリ, kinpika no gokiburi).
