Treasure Chest
Treasure Chests are items introduced in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? and a staple of the Badman franchise. They serve a variety of uses across the franchise; being loot for heroes, spawning rare monsters, being used to create Mimics, and much more.
Treasure Chests spawn randomly when digging out the dungeon. Heroes automatically target any chest in sight and open them, in which they're either put to sleep, take damage from an explosion, or get healed. They spawn monsters or become Mimics when poked with the God of Destruction's Pickaxe prior to No Heroes Allowed!, which can be the only way to obtain rare and sometimes powerful monsters. Their monster-spawning role was superseded by the addition of fossils in No Heroes Allowed!.
The monsters spawned by Treasure Chests in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? and What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord!? 2 vary drastically in viability, ranging from the oft-ineffective Skelebond to the highly fertile Channel Lilith. Because many of them are often weak and feeble, and some are even outright dangerous in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2, when a Treasure Chest is unearthed later into a playthrough, it may be better to gamble on a chest potentially healing a hero due to the potential reward of putting them to sleep or dealing a single chunk of damage.

With fossils replacing the original purpose of Treasure Chests in No Heroes Allowed!, they don't contain monsters, instead becoming Mimics when poked. These monsters will explode when a hero approaches, making the explosion effect of Treasure Chests from previous games effectively guaranteed. Because Mimics are frequently powercrept by upgraded Lizardmen as a playthrough progresses, it is reasonable to gamble on the sleep effect.
In No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either!
Treasure Chests don't contain or spawn monsters at all, instead containing various Loot obtainable in the Mine. This includes the three Underhand Items; the Dragon Egg, Flux Incapacitator, and Lilith's Song; post-Update in Japan, this will include the Acceleration Device and Time Extend. The loot gained scales with game progress, with Yummy Jerky being a common sight early-game in No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either! but becoming extremely uncommon when the first phase of the game is completed.

In No Heroes Allowed! VR
Treasure Chests can be sucked up when in Badman's territory, but can be opened by heroes prior, making them important to reach as soon as possible. Once sucked up, the controller must be shaken to open it. Once opened, they can contain an item or a monster; in the latter case, they disappear thereafter. Thereafter, they must be placed on Netherworld territory.
Once empty, Treasure Chests can be mixed into Mimics using monsters totalling 20 Horde Power. However, similar to runeborn monsters, they can be upgraded further, or even outright spawned as upgraded versions if the quota is reached prior.

- Taxonomy: Chest
No one can resist a treasure chest! What's inside? Nobody knows until they open it. But chances are, if the Destruction God opens it, it'll be treasure. If a hero opens it...well bye bye hero. But don't get too cocky. Sometimes, they heal heroes, so be careful.

What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2
- Taxonomy: Chest
- Material(s): Shin Eggs
- What's Inside: Open to Find Out
These can be found in soil with little mana. It seems they tend to be more common in the deeper layers, if you can call them common at all. The God of Destruction can open them with a poke, and various monsters come out of them. When a hero sees one, they hit the Run command, head straight for it, and then try to open it. Sometimes it will heal those greedy heroes, so don't let them reach it.

No Heroes Allowed!
- Category: Box
- Material: Shin Dragon Egg
- Contents: Open it and See!
If you're really lucky, you might dig up one of these super-rare boxes of fun. Give them a quick tap with your pickaxe of doom and they'll magically sprout legs and become a Mimic. If opened by a hero they could explode, causing damage, or send the hapless hero into a deep sleep. The only drawback is that they very occasionally restore heroes' HP...
