Dungeons (JP: ダンジョン) are the main setting from most games in the Badman franchise, serving as the central hideout for Badman as he regains his power to conquer the surface world. The God of Destruction has control over the dungeon to protect the Overlord from invading heroes, creating monsters to stop them.
The dungeon contains several blocks with nutrients and mana that are used to create monsters; the levels depend on the stage, usually solely being nutrients. Occasionally, this will be in the air, allowing Fungi to spawn, allowing for increased circulation. In No Heroes Allowed!, blocks can also contain geysers of water. These resources must be cycled throughout the dungeon to create a sustainable ecosystem and food chain.
There are four Dungeon Stratums: Brown, Green, Blue and Red. Runeborn monster's runes depend on the stratum they're dug into. If a rune is located in the first (brown) dungeon stratum, it can only spawn a Demon. If a rune is in the second (green) stratum, it can spawn a Golem. If a rune is in the third (blue) stratum, it can spawn a Lady. If a rune is in the fourth stratum (red) it can spawn any of the monsters mentioned above cycling through each type. A Mara can be summoned regardless of stratum, so long as it has nearly no nutrients or mana.
The dungeons are linear, with only one hero entering at a time. The Overlord is hidden in the deepest part of the dungeon, and if one hero manages to reach the end, he will catch the Overlord. The stratums represent the depth the hero travelled, and when the hero reaches the last stratum, the current music changes to alert that time is running out.
