A Mimic as seen in No Heroes Allowed! VR.

Mimics (JP: ミミック) are box-type monsters introduced in No Heroes Allowed!, and are the Level 1 breed of the Mimic family. They take the appearance of Treasure Chests to fool heroes, before either attacking or exploding depending on the game.

They can be awakened by striking a Treasure Chest with a Pickaxe, which can appear randomly when digging out the dungeon. Mimics eat almost any monster available and are thus at the top of the food chain, even preying on Dragons. If they come into contact with holy water, they become Chaste Chests.

Mimics are among the most common "special" monsters found while digging the dungeon, eating almost any monster. They are also unique in that they can—true to their name—imitate a treasure chest when a hero approaches, in which they blow up and deal massive damage. The more Nutrients consumed, the more powerful the explosion, which can deal up to 80% of a Hero's HP. However, if caught unaware, they will attack normally instead. They are not very strong, possessing stats just above that of a Lizardman, meaning they fall off quite quickly in a playthrough, in which their explosion ability is considerably more useful rather than them being killed in a few hits. Because of their voracious appetite and tendency to eat even the most powerful monsters in the game, monsters like Dragons and Lizardmen should be kept away from Mimics. Because they cannot reproduce, there is always a set amount of Mimics one can have in any given playthrough.

In No Heroes Allowed! VR

In No Heroes Allowed! VR, Mimics are obtained by shaking an empty Treasure Chest after receiving an item. There must be at least 20 Horde Power's worth of monsters alongside it, wherein the monsters are consumed and the Mimic is spawned. They will remain stationary in Treasure Chest form, waiting for heroes to open them, wherein they will attack ferociously.

No Heroes Allowed!

Great big boxes that have grown creepy little legs. When they catch sight of a hero, they pull their legs in, pretend to be treasure chests, and wait for exactly the right moment to blow them sky-high. When they catch sight of a pretty girl, they go weak at the knees, dangle their tongues out and clack their lids open and closed like crazy.

The mimic is evidence that some tricks never get old. Heroes just can't resist the promise of loot, sauntering merrily into the same trap every time - incurring both severe physical and mental trauma in the process.
