Basic Breed
Basic Breeds (JP: 基本種) are the bog-standard monsters in the series, first introduced in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!?. They have no standout traits, but have solid all-around stats that make them easy to grasp.
Basic Breeds are usually the initial monsters given to the God of Destruction when entering a stage, though this can change in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2's later stages.
Basic Breeds can be obtained through mutation if the monster is repeatedly killed by heroes. This also includes death by traps set by Monster Hunters, such as Yummy Jerky, with the exception of Lizardman or Lilith family members, which will become their Rare Breed version instead. Flames from members of the Dragon family that are thinning out can also trigger this mutation.
Basic Breeds are the only monster types featured in Yu-Nama: The Puzzle. However, in No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either!, they are functionally powercrept by Giant Breeds, never having comparable attack stats or special abilities to make them stand out. Therefore, when optimising a horde, the only utility of a Basic Breed is upgrading away from said breed.
