The Mandrake family (JP: マンドラゴラ類) is a group of semi-aquatic tree monsters, loosely related to the Skeleman family. They were introduced in No Heroes Allowed!.

What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? and related

Mandrakes and Magic Mandrakes—the most common members of the family—are born from corpses that have been left alone, and will successfully grow if the resultant sapling has consumed 33 nutrients or mana. Mandrakes further feed on nutrients, mana, and sometimes both once active; this is somewhat similar to the Slimeblossom. They reproduce through dropping fruit after consuming enough nutrients or mana, which can also be eaten by monsters to replenish HP or even instantly reproduce. Mandrakes attack from a long range using their roots, which can hit through walls, though close-quarters-combat is not their strong suit. Mandrakes are uniquely capable of surviving on land and in water without being inhibited.

Mandrakes begin growing as saplings and require adequate nutrients or mana within 3 spaces to be absorbed. Due to this, they are in a very vulnerable state once the process begins, so they should ideally be spawned before the next hero raids the dungeon. It is good to set them up as early as possible and deep into the dungeon to assist with this goal. Because of the positional requirements to spawn a standard Mandrake, using Skelemen to reposition themselves in more favourable, nutrient- or mana-rich areas is plausible. Culling monsters to help meet the requirements is also possible.

Yu-Nama: The Puzzle and related

Mandrakes are Level 4 azure monsters; when combined, they spawn Level 5 purple tiles, which feature members of the Dragon family. Unlike the main series, Mandrakes evolve in sequence, from Mandrake to Idol-A-Tree. Their fruits are not present in the puzzle games, not even as Loot, and they lack special abilities. The Idol-A-Tree reaches an impressive maximum Attack of 80, though this is eclipsed by the more common Majin of the Golem family, which reaches 82. Because the Mara and Supremanoid reach the maximum possible 84 Attack, and Mandrakes lack special abilities, in optimised playthroughs, they are strictly outclassed.
