Thunderhead family
The Thunderhead family (JP: ギズモ類) is a group of water-based aquatic monsters.
Thunderheads are born from mana-based Water Lily Buds. They feed on water-based mana. Like other water monsters, they cannot mutate. Rather than attack, Thunderheads envelop a hero if touched, causing their attacks to miss. In the case of magic users like Magicians, their attacks will simply fail to fire. In the case a spell is cast and the Thunderhead makes it "miss", the MP is consumed but the attack doesn't activate. Thunderheads will also attach to each other to become longer, which causes their "miss" effect to become more potent; though, there is an upper-limit. However, the longer the Thunderhead, the longer it takes to breed.
At "mid" IQ, a Thunderhead may spawn a Shifty Shadow representing either a Lilith or a Lizardman of their current breed. The stats of the Shifty Shadow will match that of the upgrade level above their own; for example, a Swirling Smog in a dungeon of Basic Breeds can summon a Shifty Shadow with the stats of a Lizard Mage or Succubus.
Thunderheads are Level 1 green monsters. When combined on the puzzle table, they become Level 2 blue tiles, such as Liliths. They have Attack equivalent to Giant Breed Mosses, which leaves them short of the Spirit family's Big Psycho. Due to lacking any special abilities in addition to this, they are generally suboptimal for use in playthroughs.
Unlike No Heroes Allowed!, Purple Fugs serve the role of Level 5 breed of the family, instead of being a standalone member.
