Shifty Shadow

Shifty Shadows are monsters summoned by members of the Thunderhead family at mid-level Dungeon IQ in No Heroes Allowed!. They cannot eat, making them reminiscent of Pure Breeds, but their offensive prowess is dictated by the level of the Thunderhead that spawned them. They can take the appearance of either a Lilith or a Lizardman and have all applicable abilities of each.

Spawning

Shifty Shadows require a dungeon to have mid-level IQ and are spawned by spending HP. The HP and stats of a Shifty Shadow is determined by the Thunderhead spawning it, and the breed is determined by the regular monster equivalent. For example, a Thunderhead will spawn a Shifty Shadow equivalent of a Bat Maiden if the Liliths in the dungeon are currently of an Abnormal Breed. It will also have the maximum HP possible, rather than around half like when spawned by the God of Destruction. Thus, to make the best use of Shifty Shadows, managing the mutation of one's Liliths and Lizardmen is recommended. Because Shifty Shadows spawn at a level higher, a Creepy Cloud will spawn Level 5 breeds; this makes up for the Thunderhead's lack of a Level 5 breed, something other aquatic monsters struggle with.

Abilities

A Totem Pole built by Lizardman Shadows.

Because Shifty Shadows copy the abilities of the breeds they're based on, they are also capable of using the sleep-inducing abilities of Dream Liliths and Siesta Lizards. This is particularly helpful considering the HP they consume when using it, because there is no cost to a Shifty Shadow perishing; they do not contribute to stress and don't take much to spawn. If culled, their mana is distributed like any other monster too, so they can be used as mana distributors of sorts.

Thanks to their copying nature, Shifty Shadows can also make Totem Poles like Lizardmen and use the Lilith's Shell Shock ability. Thus, in the event a dungeon is poorly equipped to use the real deal—such as due to poor nutrient and mana distribution, or simply not upgrading them—Shifty Shadows can supplement their presence while still using their high-IQ abilities. Lizardman-based Shifty Shadows have somewhat flawed AI, however, moving akin to a Slimemoss; ergo, a Totem Pole made by a Shifty Shadow is somewhat rare, and they don't normally stay in the vicinity either. Lilith-based ones do not have this issue.
