This article is about the Hero Occupation. For a list of Alchemists in the Badman franchise, see the category.

The Alchemist (JP: 錬金術師) is a hero occupation introduced in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2. They are depicted as robed mages, sort of like Magicians, but forfeit the stave for longer sleeves and more extravagant wear. Their standout trait is near-unique access to the Summon skill, allowing them to bring forth unique monsters to fight alongside them.

Gameplay

Adi, a notable Alchemist, as is seen in Yu-Nama: The Puzzle.

Alchemists attack similar to Magicians, only they instead materialise ice spikes from the ground that fly towards monsters. Like the magic missiles of the Magician, they pierce through monsters too, meaning they can hit multiple at once, but when they hit a wall, they disappear. Thus, Alchemists excel in long corridors, but struggle in winding paths. Alchemists attack very slowly, albeit faster than a Magician, making them struggle in open spaces where monsters can attack from multiple sides. Therefore, it's reasonable to dig soil around an Alchemist fighting a larger monster to distract them momentarily, allowing for some extra hits. However, this may trigger them to use a skill if their motivation is at the right level.

However, what truly sets the Alchemist apart is their ability to materialise their own monsters with the Summon skill, using 17 units of nutrients and mana around them. These include the Clean Wookiemon, Beautiful Golem, Gorgeous Lady, and Homunculus. These monsters will attack monsters indiscriminately alongside the Alchemist, decimating weaker armies, destroying Fungi and Magic Fungi, and overall forcing them to attack on two fronts. Ergo, an Alchemist must be defeated quickly, wherein the monster will dematerialise; however, it will still attack while the Alchemist is dying in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2. However, if an army is already strong, these man-made monsters tend to be a non-issue, and the Alchemist is vulnerable while using the skill.
