Diabro sprite released as a PlayStation 3 avatar in 2012.

Diabro are spawned from Diabro Runes. They feed on Spirits, Liliths, Lizardmen, and items such as Corpses and Dragon Orbs. When well-fed, they will fall asleep until they're hungry again. They are also aggressive towards other members of the Demon family and will fight to the death. Diabro will boost the Magic Defence of all monsters in the dungeon by 6%. If purified with holy water, it will become a Harmunculus.

In-Game Descriptions

What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!?

DiabroWDIDTDTML.jpg
  • Taxonomy: Demon

Diabros use magic to attack. They fortify hero defenses and magic resistance at a far greater strength than ordinary Wookiemons, making them valuable mascots. By the way, these fortifications are cumulative, but be careful because different species of these demons will kill each other on sight, even if heroes are nearby. Can't we all just get along?

  • Food: All Lizardmen, Spirits, Liliths
  • Predators: All Other Demon Types
  • Ability: Fortifies All Monsters' RES

He is armed with magical attacks and, as you may have noticed, is the Wookiemon's bro. To summon him, either create a rune with a lot of mana in it, make a rune and let Spirits get inhaled into it, or dig a rune out of the soil that's packed full of mana. He sends out electrical impulses that increase all monsters' magic resistance. Oh, if a hero steps on a rune, the rune's mana will offset the hero's MP.

No Heroes Allowed!

DiabroNHA.jpg

Diabros are spawned from purple runes that have absorbed plenty of mana. They're not much cop at fighting alone, but if you combine their magical-defence-increasing effect with a sizable swarm of Omnomnom Flies, they'll more than pay their dues. That being said, the Summer issue of Rune-Wrangler Magazine hints that if a hero steps on a rune, the rune's mana and the hero's MP will cancel each other out, so care needs to be taken.

Etymology

Diabro is a portmanteau of "Diablo" and "bro", diablo being the Spanish name for the Devil—also known as Lucifer or Satan—in Christian faith. In the East Asian languages, this is more direct, specifically using phonetic transcriptions of the name Satan.
