Dark Spirit
Dark Spirits (JP: ダークエレメント) are the Level 4 Basic Breed of the Spirit family, introduced in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2.
In these titles, Dark Spirits cannot attack heroes and are strictly mana distributors. It reproduces when it consumes enough mana to split in two, and can be used to power up runes or corpses to summon more powerful monsters. In What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2, if they mutate they turn into a Level 1 Spirit breed.
In No Heroes Allowed!, with the introduction of Level 5 breeds, they can mutate into the Psycho Spirit, Terastunner, Monopole, or Big Psycho instead. However, as is the case with all Level 4 breeds, it still cannot be upgraded with Dig Power.
In No Heroes Allowed! VR
Dark Spirits were reworked to be able to attack heroes and spawn from Dark Spirit Nests. With the removal of mana, they feed on Fiend Dew instead. Being capable of floating, they can scale walls, avoid slippery terrain, and cross rivers, making them excellent beneficiaries of a Demonic Charge. They can be upgraded into Psycho Spirits with Upgrade Points.

They have even higher reproductivity and battle abilities. Because of a lot of blockages, it has been said that it's hard to defeat a hero with Spirits, but this is fading into myth. Dark Spirits can also be used as cosmetics for whitening skin, so Liliths are fond of these types of Spirits.

Darkly glowing elementals often seen during the build-up to an earthquake. They are half-elemental and half-monster, and know some amazing ancient spells, but the monster in them always makes them select "Attack" at the crucial moment, so they never get to use them.

Mass-produced by roasting Spirits in the fires of the Netherworld, giving them their blackened appearances. The Nether fires have imparted a degree of power that makes them capable of taking on weaker heroes.
