Poison

Poison (JP: どく) is a status that can be inflicted on heroes and monsters alike, introduced in What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2. It is generally exclusive to Abnormal Breeds of the Insect family, but the same effect can happen if a hero eats Mystery Meat in No Heroes Allowed! VR.

Poison has a given chance to be inflicted against a hero or preying monster, and varies in intensity by the Omnom consumed. When poisoned, heroes and monsters will take minor damage for a period of time; this isn't often enough to kill a hero, but assists dramatically in prolonged dungeons aiming to out-resource heroes.

Monsters such as Lizardmen, Liliths, or Dragons, can be poisoned if they prey on a poisonous Omnom. While the vitality recovered by consuming the Omnom is usually enough to keep a monster of the same level decently healthy, it still puts a firm cap on their ability to fight an incoming hero.

In No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either!

In No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either!, Omnoms are once again the only monsters to have the ability to poison a hero. When poisoned, a hero will progressively take damage even when not being attacked by the horde. In the event of a grid where linking blocks isn't viable, this ability can be a useful safety net.
